ABOUT ME
Hi my name is Ronnell. And for the people who know me, they know that I love the Philippines very much and I am not really one who rants and complains to high heavens about what is happening to our country and does nothing about it.

Yet, after seeing how events in our nation had transpired the past years and after talking to some friends, I feel the urge to share with you my own thoughts and feelings here.

Cebu Cathedral

Cebu CathedralFrom the Sto. Nino Church, we just walk to the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral since the two churches are actually within comfortable distance from each other. Once more it was Sunday, the Cathedral was packed with people hearing the mass. I only took 1 outdoor shot and made our way back to SM. (The other image inside the Church when was taken the other day).

Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral is the ecclesiastical seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cebu in Cebu, Philippines. Construction of the Cathedral took long due to frequent interruptions brought about by lack of funds and other unexpected events like funds were diverted to the moro wars in Mindanao. The death of an incumbent bishop who spearheaded the construction/reconstruction and vacancies in the office were also factors

The church is located in a main access road, so most public utility vehicles are driving by. If you stay in Mandaue City or in Northern part of Cebu, you can just ride a jeepney that has sign of 21D, 22A or 22G. Otherwise, if you came from South of Cebu, vehicles with a signage of 12D, 12C, 12I, & 12G will still drop you off in front of the Church. There are tons of street vendors outside the church, selling clothes, flowers, balloons, and even prayers, so you'll definitely know you've reach the location.

On the right side of Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral at Manalili corner lies the aged Cathedral Museum of Cebu. It was currently renovated and the museum is now open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 12 pm in the morning and 2 pm to 5 pm in the afternoon.

Entrance fees for adults are P50 (local residents) and P100 (foreigners). Students with valid identification card pay only P25. They, however, gave discounts for group tours and senior citizens. Visitors are provided with a guide all throughout.

Cebu Cathedral MuseumAmong the displays are collection of large as well as small Spanish-era statues of saints from the different parishes of the archdiocese and its churches. Central to this collection are a set of saints (and a Calvary scene) of ivory and wood that, for security reasons, are displayed only during special occasions or after obtaining special permits to view them. Exhibits also include the accoutrements that provide the physical dimensions to the Liturgy and the Sacraments, including the archdiocesan collection of chalices, cruets, ciboriums, and sacras as well as priests' vestments and a collection of portraits of bishops that once reigned over the diocese.
